Privacy policy
The short version
Squigs is a family chore and allowance app. We collect only what the app needs to work for your family. We don't show ads, we don't track you across apps or websites, and we never sell or share your data.
What we collect
- Sign in with Apple: a private Apple user ID, and your name if you choose to share it. We don't receive your Apple password, and we don't ask for an email address.
- Family details: family name, member display names, roles (parent or kid), colors and avatar symbols.
- Chores: chores, schedules, due times, rewards, and whether each was done, approved, sent back or missed, with any notes parents add.
- Money and points: the family's record of earnings, bonuses, payouts, points, cash-outs, savings goals (like the Dog Fund) and achievements.
- Grades that parents enter.
- Chore photos a kid takes as proof. They're stored privately and deleted automatically after 120 days.
- The digital pet: its breed, name, items and treats.
- Device push tokens, so we can send reminders and approval notifications.
Some features stay on your device and are never sent to us: chore reminders scheduled on a kid's device, and Calendar sync (which writes to the calendar you choose).
How we use it
Only to run Squigs for your family: showing chores, keeping the money and points record, sending the notifications you've turned on, and running the features you use. We don't use your data for advertising, profiling or analytics about you, and we don't train AI models on it.
Who can see it
Your family's data is visible only to members of your family in the app. Parents can see their kids' chores, money, grades, photos and pet. Kids see their own data. Nobody outside your family can see it, and we don't share it with anyone except the service providers that host the app (below), who process it only on our behalf.
Where it's stored
Squigs is hosted on Microsoft Azure. Data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Notifications are delivered through Apple's push notification service.
Children
Squigs is designed for families, and kids under 13 use it. A parent creates the family and invites their kids; kids can't join without a parent's invite code. Parents control their kids' accounts: they can see their data, change it, and erase a kid's account and all of their data at any time (Family → the kid → Erase account). We collect from kids only what the app needs, and we don't use it for anything else.
Keeping and deleting data
- Your data stays as long as your family uses Squigs, except chore photos, which are deleted after 120 days.
- Anyone can delete their account in the app: Settings → Delete account. The last parent can delete the whole family. Deletion removes the data from our database and photo storage straight away.
- You can also ask us to delete or export your family's data: email support@bsit.ca.
Changes and contact
If this policy changes, we'll update the date above and tell you in the app if the change matters. Questions or requests: support@bsit.ca.
